As GEM HERSTORY Month continues, we are thrilled to honor Dashawna Fussel-Ware, an esteemed Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee and the newest addition to our team as our GEM Counselor. With a doctorate and master's in social work, Dashawna's passion for research and dedication to meeting the needs of future generations make her an invaluable asset to GEM CULTURE.
As a proud Miami native, Dashawna's research is centered on the mental health of Black, Hispanic, and Latino/a/x youth between the ages of 14 and 25. Her commitment to this area of study led her to seek collaboration with youth-serving organizations in her hometown, including GEM CULTURE. Her goal is to include our organization in her research to better address the mental health needs of our teenagers and, more broadly, teenagers of color.
Dashawna's addition to our team brings a burst of positive energy and a wealth of knowledge that will undoubtedly enhance our ability to support the mental well-being of our GEMS. We are excited to collaborate with her on this vital aspect of our mission and look forward to the insights and advancements her research will bring.
We salute Dashawna Fussel-Ware and honor her as a pivotal part of our GEM HERSTORY. Her contributions to mental health research and her dedication to the well-being of our youth are a testament to her commitment to creating a brighter future for all.
