Due to many challenges, its been over six months since we've seen our GEMS. We finally got to see them this week during our End of the Semester Celebration and it was in that moment that we realized how important it is that we spend time with one another together, in person. Often times, we as people think that being in solitude is the best thing since sliced bread but really, humans need one another. We long for those face to face interactions. Even the most introverted of souls need this from time to time before they go back into their caves to recharge. There is something about standing next to another person, hearing their words, their laughs and being able to give something as simple as a high five that really makes being a human special. We need each other even as the individuals that we are. Most of our GEMS thrive off of their individualism but we can all agree that the time spent with one another is absolutely necessary. So, our almost fully online semester reminded us that that will be the last, if we can help it. With all of the changes that has been thrown at us, going from in the classroom, to fully online due to the pandemic, to a hybrid model and almost fully back online again, we have decided to pivot back fully into our hybrid model. Being online from anywhere in the world still matters as it has allowed our GEMS to reside in other cities such as Orlando, to relocate and to travel all over the world while still attending meetings.
While being online all the time can be a drag and cause burn out, a perfect blend of it serves the perfect recipe for success and the effective execution of our program. Our last interaction inspired our GEMS into action to assist in planning their next semester and year ahead, giving their input on what it should like. They know that we really mean it when we say that GEM CULTURE is for them, by them. We listen to them, we hear them, and we deliver.
Here's to our upcoming semester filled with in person interactions, the good 'ol fashion way. The way that we as humans should exist - together.
