As we continue our celebration of GEM HERSTORY Month, we honor a woman whose dedication to empowering families and communities has made a profound impact on GEM CULTURE - Ruth Ifakemi Efungbemi Jeannoel. A multifaceted individual, Ruth is a Mama, Organizer, Writer, Doula, Haitian, Restorative Justice Circle Trainer, Artist, and Divine Queen. Her contributions to GEM CULTURE began in 2019 when she served as a Guest GEM Speaker during our very first Crowning Ceremony, leaving an indelible mark with her passionate words and wisdom.
Ruth's support for GEM CULTURE and our Founder, RIMIDI, extends beyond that memorable event. She has been a valuable part of RIMIDI's tribe, as RIMIDI's daughters have been members of her organization, Fanm Saj, Inc. Under Ruth's guidance, they have been trained as Youth Advisory Board Leaders, in restorative justice training, and peacekeeping circles.
As the Founder and CEO of Fanm Saj, Inc., Ruth envisions a world where families of all ages and abilities live in safe and healthy communities. The organization's mission is to provide families across the African Diaspora with cultural and wellness tools, social and political resources, to nourish themselves, their families, and their communities. Through leadership development, workshops, training, and consultation, Fanm Saj, Inc. empowers individuals to explore their gifts and talents, promoting personal and communal growth.
